Dr. Ronald Weissman has more than 30 years of experience in early stage investment and executive management. Currently, Chairman of the Software Special Interest Group at Band of Angels and Board Member of the Angel Capital Association and Chair of the Governance Committee. In Canada, Ron is advising an award-winning Canadian bioscience firm exploring the use of AI and Big data to predict toxicity for drugs in silico and has served or advised several Canadian tech company boards. As a VC and Angel investor, he has invested in or advised more than 60 companies and has served on the boards of more than 30 private companies and has managed M&A, IPO/secondary and private equity exits. His investment focus: AI, business and platform software, statistical and text analytics and health IT. He has been an active angel for the past fifteen years. A business advisor and frequent conference speaker, Ron has published and lectured extensively on AI, venture capital and angel investing, entrepreneurship, corporate governance and industry trends. He frequently guest lectures at Stanford and UC Berkeley, the University of Santa Clara’s Law School and Business School, the Deggendorf Institute of Technology and the American University of Armenia. He is also Vice Chair of the ACA's Education Committee and has developed curriculum for almost every aspect of angel investing. He has advised governments on startup hubs and angel investing worldwide. Earlier in his career, Ron spent seventeen years as a partner with the early stage team at VC/PE firm, Apax Global and spent more than five years reportng to Steve Jobs at NeXT, managing European and corporate marketing. Ron is a Fulbright Scholar and member of Phi Beta Kappa. He received his BA, M.A., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California, Berkeley.
